Q. What is The Bentley Academy Charter School of Salem?
A. BACS is a tuition-free, public, in-district charter school that will serve approximately 275 scholars in grades K-5 in the 2015-2016 school year.
Q. Is Bentley Academy Charter School a Salem Public School?
A. Yes. BACS is a Salem Public School.
Q. What is the Bentley Academy Charter School's State Report Card Score?

Q. What is the school schedule?
A. For grades 1-5 the BACS school year will begin on August 24th and August 31st for our incoming kindergarteners. The academic day will run from 7:30am-3: 30pm, Monday-Friday. Breakfast service begins for all K-5 scholars at 7:30am. Additional after-school on-site programming is available and is provided by the YMCA which will run from 3:30pm-6:00pm, Monday-Friday. In addition BACS collaborates with other off-site after-school programs such as the Salem Community Childcare and Boys and Girls Club.
Q. Do the scholars wear uniforms to school? Do I have to pay for uniform shirts?
A. Yes, all scholars are required to wear a dark green top and khaki bottom at BACS. Additional information regarding our uniform policy will be provided when a scholar enrolls in the school.
Q. How many scholars are in each classroom?
A. BACS aims to set class sizes at no more than 20 scholars. This ensures that our scholars and teachers can build a strong relationship with one another to support academic achievement.
Q. Does Bentley Academy Charter School enroll English Language Learners or Special Education Scholars?
A. Yes! Students that receive English Language Learners or Special Education services are encouraged to apply to BACS.
Q. Does Bentley Academy Charter School provide transportation?
A. Scholars who qualify to receive transportation through Salem Public Schools will receive transportation to and from BACS.
Q. Do you have free breakfast and lunch program?
A. Currently through a federal grant the Bentley Elementary School provides all of their student’s free breakfast, lunch, and snack. It is unknown if this grant will carry through the following academic year, but all scholars who are eligible for free or reduced lunch will receive breakfast and lunch.
